“The Center for Emergency Management and Homeland Security Policy Research at ¹ú²ú¾«Æ· of Akron is dedicated to create a supportive environment for research, academics, and outreach in Emergency Management and Homeland Security. This Center will support and encourage multidisciplinary endeavors in these fields that will make a positive contribution to society.”
The Research Center
- Conveniently located in the Polsky Building downtown Akron, Ohio on the campus of ¹ú²ú¾«Æ· of Akron;
- Established since 2002
- Collaborative partnership between ¹ú²ú¾«Æ· of Akron and The Ohio Emergency Management Agency
- Primary charge to improve the practice of emergency management
- Strong policy focus so that research is used to improve practice
Concept:
- Focuses on policy and its interaction with the function of emergency management
- Analysis and research relates to current emergency management questions and issues, on both state and national levels
- Uses research results to be applied to improve real life practice

- Terrorism preparedness
- Business and industry continuity
- Disaster response and recovery assessment
- Management practices relating to crises and disasters
