University of Akron Remote Proctoring/Monitoring Acknowledgement
In consideration for the opportunity to participate in a remote testing option, I understand and agree that my exam shall be subject to remote proctoring, and that the following conditions will apply:
- The test session will be video monitored by a test proctor or testing software (monitor), recorded, and securely stored by UA for a period of one year following the end of the academic term of the course for which the test was administered.
- I understand that I will not be permitted to take remotely proctored/monitored examinations in my home/residence hall room unless I am willing to conduct a room scan. By choosing to take the exam in my home/residence hall room, I am consenting to the room scan of the area where I will take the exam, and that I will show briefly my testing room, ceiling, floor, desk, under desk, and other views of the environment that I select for testing, as reasonably requested by the test proctor or testing software (monitor). The room scan will only be visible to UA school officials with a legitimate need to review the video. Other students will not be able to see your room scan
- I will give remote access control through Microsoft Teams to the test proctor or test monitor to administer the test.
- I acknowledge that there are no breaks during the remote proctoring test session and that if I need to discontinue for any reason, the proctor or test monitor will consult with UA testing staff prior to contacting me to discuss potential for arranging completing the test at another date.
- I cannot talk with anyone during the test, except the proctor or the test monitor. This includes use of electronic devices for any purpose other than taking the exam.
- I may not access any resources other than the exam and scratch paper for reading and writing the exam. I may not access any resources other than the exam for computer literacy.
- I understand that the use of backgrounds or blurring of video is not permitted and may result in discontinuing and invalidating my test.
- I will abide by the University of Akron Code of Student Conduct and I understand that violations may result in discontinuing or invalidating my test.
- I acknowledge that I may not disclose test information to any other individual at any time.
- I understand that if I choose not to have my home/residence hall room subject to the room scan, I may take the exam from another location where I won’t be interrupted including: one of UA’s testing centers; a private study room in UA’s library; a private room in public library; testing centers at my local community college; or other UA approved community testing sites. It is my responsibility to identify an appropriate location to take my exam, and I understand that I must provide at least 48 hours’ notice to my instructor and the UA Counseling and Testing Center.
- I understand that if I require a testing accommodation, I should contact the UA Office of Accessibility at 330-972-7928 or at access@uakron.edu.
I acknowledge that I have read and understood and agree to abide by each of the above statements. If I have had any questions about the meaning of any of these statements, I have had opportunity to ask these questions of my instructor or the testing center and they have been answered to my satisfaction.
