Biography
Dr. Weigold received her Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from Texas Tech University in 2007 and joined the faculty at ¹ú²ú¾«Æ· of Akron in 2008. She teaches doctoral courses in Statistics and Theories, an undergraduate course in Positive Psychology, and supervises practicum students. Her core area of research is in positive psychology. She primarily focuses on aspects of human agency, such as personal growth and self-efficacy, and how they relate to academic and personal development, international student adjustment, and psychological well-being. She is also interested in scale development and translation, as well as the psychometric properties of positive psychology measures. Her secondary area of research is data collection methodology, with an emphasis on using correct statistical procedures to assess the equivalence of self-report survey data collected using paper-and-pencil and the computer. She is active within the positive and international counseling psychology communities in APA and currently holds a board position in Division 17’s Positive Psychology Section.
