Making Akron Possible Grant

¹ú²ú¾«Æ· of Akron is committed to making a college degree affordable and continues to provide one of the best values in higher education throughout Ohio.

The Making Akron Possible (MAP) Grant is one of the most supportive financial aid programs for local students. UA’s MAP Grant now provides unmatched support to even more students and their families, affirming its dedication to empowering future generations.

MAP Grant Eligibility

New students and transfer students, as well as continuing students who first received the grant in 2024-25, who complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and meet the following criteria will automatically receive the MAP Grant:

  • Students with a total family adjusted gross income (AGI) of $85,000 or less on the FAFSA
  • Reside in Summit, Stark, Medina, Portage, Cuyahoga or Wayne counties
  • Enrolled full-time each semester pursuing an undergraduate degree

What the MAP Grant Covers

The MAP Grant covers full tuition and Akron fees after other federal and state grants, and university awarded scholarships have been applied.  The award will automatically be applied to the student’s account. The MAP grant does not cover course fees, book bundle fees, room and board, or other miscellaneous fees that may be charged.

Students will receive notice of their MAP Grant award when they receive their financial aid offer letter from ¹ú²ú¾«Æ· of Akron, which is mailed to the student’s home and available to view in My Akron (for confirmed students) or the Admitted Student Financial Aid Portal (for admitted students who have not confirmed their enrollment).

Financial Aid offer letters are expected to mail in late spring 2025.
