Biography
Dr. Tavana came to UA in 2010. He received his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Toronto where he studied interfacial tensions and contact angles of polymer films-fluid systems. His work led to a prestigious postdoctoral fellowship in the Biomedical Engineering department of the University of Michigan where he developed novel microtechnologies that enable in vitro studies of cells in physiologic microenvironments. Dr. Tavana was selected as BMES' Young Innovator in Cellular and Molecular Bioengineering. He has also been recognized as a Top 20 Young Investigator Frontiers in Bioengineering. He has 6 patents, 70 papers and 10 grants from NIH and NSF.
